| My personal belief is that in the modern economy, called knowledge-based economy, innovations are not based on new combinations of resources and inventions (as it was in the era of the industrial economy), but rather on the efficient use of the information flow resulting from the progress of science and technology.
The main barrier to efficiency in information management is exaggerated intellectual property law, which provides huge opportunities to get profit for institutions acting as intermediaries between scientists and the public such as books' and magazines' publishers. The good news is that in the European Research Area civilized mechanisms to overcome these barriers are already developed and actively used, such as the consept of Open Access.
"Open Access" is a complex concept that applies not only to scientific journals, books and monographs, but also to scientific data and the conditions of access to research infrastructure. In the case of "big science" (research conducted in international scientific infrastructure facilities) data acquisition is an integral part of the research process and the issues of management and conservation are considered in the planning stages of research. Similarly, in areas such as social and economic sciences, the creation and management of time series data is one of the most important research resources.
This site is a small contribution to the implementation of the concept of open access. My colleagues and I want to see the results of our work in demand, so that they benefit the scientific community, help young scientists and students to graduate and let someone younger and more talented than we stand on the foundation created by us, and to achieve big scientific results. We put drafts of our publications in the open access and hope that our results will spread out. The only thing we ask of our readers and users of our materials, please refer to the relevant publications with indication of the journals in which they were published. Thereby we can meet all the copyright requirements.
